What a year 2023 has been for The Traditional Company.

Our teams have worked tirelessly creating bespoke Iron works for a number of clients and installing miles of Estate Fencing and Legacy Edging.

I wanted to start the year looking back at a few key stand out jobs.

Water feature.

This wonderful stainless steel water feature could not go un-mentioned.

Our fabrication team followed the clients design and used a brushed marine grade stainless sheet to create the feature. A specific pump was used to get the correct flow of water and an auto top up was also integrated into the reservoir tank for minimum maintenance to cope with evaporation.

The header tank and cascade sheet are supported with a unistrut frame all fixed to the existing brickwork and hidden by the water feature. Adjustment for the header tank was vital so that the out flow would run evenly across the 3m opening.

It truly does look fantastic.

Steel Bridge

My personal favourite that I have to share was the large bespoke bridge in Hertfordshire. We have worked with the client for many years installing gates, over 1000m of Estate Fencing and a 1000m of Legacy Edging. We were tasked to replace the existing wooden footbridge with a steel one that would last for years to come and match the surrounding fence.

The bridge was handmade at our Fabrication Unit in Leicestershire and the 45mm thick Iroko wood for the bridge was supplied by our neighbours at Burrough Court Hi Fi Racks Limited.

The bridge took just under a month to make and was transported to site by lorry. A large crane was brought in to lift the bridge as it weighed a staggering 1500kg. It was carefully manoeuvred over the fence and hedges and placed on the existing concrete bases. The team traveled with the bridge to watch it being placed before it was securely attached and final wooden sections and gate was added.

Rose Arch

We installed many rose arches this year including this 10m one for a private garden in Reading. The client provided us with the initial drawings, the brief was that they wanted the arch to look as delicate as possible so were happy to be guided by us on materials, providing we kept the overall size consistent with their drawings. Dom and the team installed the arch on site and it was finished in black. It creates the perfect delicate structure, we look forward to one day seeing it fully planted and covered in beautiful roses.

Estate Fencing.

There are so many fence installations i could talk about but i really loved the story from the job in the New Forest. We installed 100m of Estate Fencing to match the existing fence that was here 100 years ago. Taking the outside of the property back to its former glory.

It really was wonderful to be part of the history of this property and returning the fence to how it once was.

Legacy Edging

Our Legacy Edging was added to numerous gardens creating crisp lines, raised flower beds and neat borders. My personal favourite was the Leicestershire garden. The team used Legacy 6 edging to create large tiers and raised flower beds, whilst retaining the spoil behind.

Iron Railings

Our Iron Railings have been installed across the country this year. The two that stand out for me was the job in West Sussex of vertical iron railings. IT was a great site to work on and the railings were places to protect the clients from the drop below. We also hand made the solid hand rail to lead the family down the the next level of garden.

The grand entrance in Derbyshire also stands out for me. The curved panels were handmade by our fabrication team. We also made and installed the large entrance gate. It was a pleasure working alongside the client to create this perfect property entrance.

Just a little montage of some of the other jobs from 2023

It really has been a fantastic, rewarding year for the whole team. We are incredibly proud of what we do and look forward to sharing what we have lined up for 2024.

Bespoke Steel Tree Seat: Designed Around Nature

A bespoke steel tree seat, designed around nature. When an existing customer approached The Traditional Company with a unique seating request, our team worked closely with her to create a backless tree seat tailored to the tree, the space and her vision.

Bespoke Vertical Screens for County Garden Management

Bespoke Vertical Screens for County Garden Management

We collaborated with County Garden Management to manufacture bespoke vertical screens for a garden project in Essex, designed to soften a large brick wall and enhance the overall space. Fabricated in-house at our Leicestershire facility, the screens were created from detailed technical drawings and will naturally develop a rich, weathered patina within a few months, blending seamlessly into the landscape.
