Steel Planters and Troughs
Our range of Traditional Steel Planters follow designs of old. We fashion all our Planters in Rutland, using British Steel. Our collection of steel planters include square steel planters, tapered steel planters, round steel tub planters, and steel trough planters.
They are crafted from a wide range of Solid Steel , including mild steel, corten steel, stainless steel and copper plated. Our mild steel planters have a weathered lead effect, whereas our copper plated troughs can either be lacquered to keep their pristine lustre or allowed to attain the classic verdigris finish. Corten steel offers a very even weathered look , with the advantage that the rust will not run off and stain.
Our solid steel planters are made from British Steel ensuring that they last for generations to come. All can be fitted with cast iron balled ‘feet’ . Our planters have drainage holes as standard, the troughs can come with a tap if required. They are extremely heavy – our smallest planters weigh around 40kg with the larger troughs over 100kg. As a result all our planters are delivered by palletline.

Raised Beds
Our raised steel beds can be manufactured from corten or mild steel. They are internally braced so have none of the creeping that you will be familiar with from wooden raised beds. They can be fitted to form new steel raised beds or to replace rotten sleepered raised beds. We normally leave the steel to weather naturally, this takes around 6 months to fully colour. We offer these in both mild steel and corten.
Our standard raised beds are 410mm high, we offer either 1.25m or 1.5m widths and the length starts at 0.5m and goes up in increments of 0.5m.
Our steel beds can be delivered on a supply only basis, for self assembly. The kit comes with all pins and locking mechanisms to allow simple assembly. These raised steel beds would be delivered by a Palletline service.

A Norfolk Country House Restoration
As part of the wider restoration of this beautiful Norfolk country estate, we worked closely with Will Draper Garden Design to deliver a range of bespoke features, including Burghley Estate Fencing, Gates, Rose Arch Walkways, a Domed Structure and, completing the project, a large bespoke Arbour. Designed to complement the surrounding landscape.
Bespoke Steel Tree Seat: Designed Around Nature
A bespoke steel tree seat, designed around nature. When an existing customer approached The Traditional Company with a unique seating request, our team worked closely with her to create a backless tree seat tailored to the tree, the space and her vision.
Bespoke Vertical Screens for County Garden Management
We collaborated with County Garden Management to manufacture bespoke vertical screens for a garden project in Essex, designed to soften a large brick wall and enhance the overall space. Fabricated in-house at our Leicestershire facility, the screens were created from detailed technical drawings and will naturally develop a rich, weathered patina within a few months, blending seamlessly into the landscape.
