This week we went back to Surrey to install more Traditional Iron Railings. On our first visit we installed railings around the edge of the swimming pool. The client’s requirements were to make the garden as secure as possible and to form a safety barrier between the garden and the water.
For our second visit we were asked to install Traditional Iron railings to the newly installed pond. We needed to install more railings to match the previous ones surrounding the pool and to also keep the children away from the water. A site visit was arranged to check the proposed location and to take measurements. The panels are fabricated at our workshop in Leicestershire and they are made to measure, to your bespoke requirements.
Why did the client choose Iron Railings over our Traditional Estate Fencing? Safety was a key factor and with young children to protect, vertical Iron Railings are the safest barrier. Our Estate Fencing can be fantastic ladder for young children thus not ideally suited for this job. The tops of our railings can be designed and made to your requirements, but spikes or hoops prove to be the most popular choice. A pair of double gates and 800mm high railings were installed enclosing the pond. Our Iron Railing panels normally come in 2m lengths and are pre-bent to the required angle and welded into place.
As with our Traditional Estate Fencing our Iron Railings can be painted in a variety of colours. Originally in the early part of the nineteenth century the most popular colour was invisible greens, this was so the railings would blend into the natural surroundings. Black became popular following the death of Prince Albert in 1861, when out of respect doors, windows and railings were painted black. A trend that has continued to this day Whilst also on site, a gate we had previously installed had to be moved to a different location to suit the new landscape design. Once installed in the new location we fabricated a panel either side to prevent small children or animals from getting past.
This week will see one of our teams installing Estate Fencing in Surrey who will have to dig a large trench the entire way along the fence line to accommodate mesh netting 400mm underground.
