We pride ourselves on working with The National Trust and other independent organisations for large Country Estates, but we also do a lot of work at large private family homes like Braxted Park.
Braxted Park is a beautiful Queen Ann house set in its historic parkland setting in Essex. It has been family owned since 1946 and has successfully diversified into a business which includes partridge shoots, weddings, events and a 9-hole golf course. It is also the largest walled private estate in the country. We were hired to install 800 meters of Estate Fencing, 4 field gates and 2 pedestrian gates in various areas. Re-instating the original fencing and bringing the Estate up to date yet keeping the heritage.
The Estate Fencing was installed on both sides of the main driveway and around the parkland with field gates and pedestrian gates giving access. The client chose our Quadrant Estate Gates for both which are handmade in our workshop and manufactured to the client’s requirements. We had an exciting challenge whilst installing the gates as there is a cattle grid that needed larger access when coaches arrived. The team created and installed a bespoke gate to give the extra space needed for when large vehicles arrived. Our fences and gates can be finished to your own design or replicate what you may already have installed. The customer here decided to finish the gates with shepherd crooks and our cast Rutland Top end posts which remain in-keeping with the traditional look.
We installed our Burghley range surrounding a cattle field, whilst this is one of our lighter grade fences, when accompanied by our fencing arms with electric wire it is more than capable of holding back cattle. Our fencing arms are fixed with bolts to the fence allowing variability should you change your stock in the field. We normally install 1 every 5 meters on a straight line and increase the frequency on curves. We normally install a fan for added safety when the fence line finishes near water, but it can also be used as a decorative feature. The fans are manufactured at our fabrication workshop in Leicestershire. At Braxted Park they were installed to finish the line as it descended in to water. This is a great safety feature as it prevents anyone from falling into the water.
The house sits magnificently at the end of a long sweeping drive. Our fencing is perfect for running along a drive as it does not detract from the view or scenery, it blends beautifully into the backdrop but securely keeps boundaries identified and enclosed. This is a truly stunning Estate and we all very much enjoyed working here.
