We are incredibly excited that The Traditional Company’s Estate Fencing has been show at RHS Tatton as part of Charlie Hartigan’s award winning 1 in 10 Garden. Charlie is part of Envisage Garden Designs and Landscaping team. We have worked alongside them previously at a private client’s garden. The team got in touch with us as they wanted to incorporate our Estate Fencing and a gate.
We were more than happy to help with this. Charlie’s 1 in 10 Garden is designed as a sensory distraction for someone suffering from endometriosis. Its aim is to provide a comfortable space for the visitor to enjoy on their own while allowing them to connect with nature. “Approximately one in 10 women in the UK suffer from endometriosis, but it takes on average seven and a half years to achieve a diagnosis,” explained Charlie. “It’s a serious condition that can leave the sufferer in chronic pain and fatigued, suffering from depression and social isolation, and potentially lead to difficulty conceiving.
We provided 6m of Estate Fencing and Charlie chose our quadrant gate because of the simple detail. This formed the boundary for the garden. Our fabrication team including our female fabricator Sam who suffers from endometriosis, built, primed and painted the panels of estate fencing and the gate was hand made. The team then sent this all to Charlie who with her team installed it.
The garden had plentiful seating scattered throughout offering all an opportunity to relax and take in all the garden had to offer. With a nearby water feature there was a gorgeous aroma of lavender. A hornbeam hedge and raised wall created a sense of enclosure. The aim of the garden was to offer escapism from everyday life and encourage visitors to relax and heal.
Charlie won the People’s Choice for Best Large Garden and was awarded Silver for the Young Designer Garden. We are incredibly happy for her and so proud to have our work displayed amongst the garden. The RHS described the estate fencing perfectly.. ‘A minimal-impact fence separates the visitor from the countryside beyond as the garden user soaks in the healing view across the horizon, or up to the stars’
